- Long description
- Circular fan of woven palm leaf with a multicoloured centre, edged in dyed magenta and white feathers. The handle of the fan is undecorated and woven of plain un-dyed strips of palm leaf. The design on the woven centre begins with an outer ring of purple and cream chevrons, followed by a ring of dark mauve and a thicker ring of yellow. A ring of purple follows this, then a ring of un-dyed ring then a ring of dark mauve and un-dyed diagonal lines before a plain central circle. The arrangement of the feathers around the outer edge is organised so that the magenta feathers are at the top, bottom and at the middle of either side and the areas of white feathers are longer. A few of the feathers hang out farther than the others, but all seem to be securely attached. [LKG 30/09/2009]
