- Long description
- Black pottery pipe top, part of a pipe with gourd water on a bark base and a bamboo pipe stem. The top is conical shaped with a wide cylindrical neck. The surface is decorated with bands of incised vertical and horizontal lines and in-filled with a white pigment. 1953.8.20Ornament. Made from copper alloy and tended to be worn by a mother, strapped over the shoulder so it hangs on the kidneys at the Jila ceremonies. It consists of a round brass plate 6" across, with two concentric circles of hammered impressions and a thin knob sticking out from the centre.
