- Long description
- Basket container [.1] with lid [.2]. The basket is oval in shape with a pointed base protected by leather. Around the opening are four string lugs through which are threaded two handles of plaited plant fibre. The lid is domed with an upturned rim and protecting leather cap at the apex. 1998.39.3.1Cylindrical bamboo container with the address "Curators Pitt Rivers Museum Oxford" painted on down the length of the vessel in green paint. The vessel was used to send reproductions of uli body-painting designs to the Pitt Rivers Museum. The main body of the container is made from a long piece of bamboo (or similar plant). 1908.20.2.1-2High boots of leather with a hide sole the hair outside. They are sewn up down the back of the leg and over the instep where the toe upper is joined on. There is a large circular decoration stitched on the outside of the leg, the toe is decorated and a strip down the front of the leg.
