Description
Knife with curved iron blade with long spiked tip and carved wooden handle. [SM 08/06/2007]
Long description
Knife with curved iron blade with long spiked tip and carved wooden handle. The blade curves at approximately 90 degrees to a tapering tip. It has two blunt ended projections extending from the outer edge and one from the inner edge. These projections are irregularly hexagonal in section. The outer edge curves out slightly, the inner edge is very concave. Two large holes run through the blade adjacent with the two projections on the outer edge. The blade is blackened in the centre on both surfaces and is decorated with punched dots on the lower half of this area. The blade is also grooved at the point where it joins the handle. The handle consists of a carved flared section and a cylindrical one. They are separated by a carved out band approximately 2/5ths down the length of the handle. A blank white label is tied around the handle. [SM 08/06/2007]
