The inscription on this object was transcribed and translated by Fusa McLynn who volunteered at the Museum in 2010-13 as: “Ichikin goju sen”, 50 sen. A receipt for 50 sen for donation to Sanjusangen-do Rengeoin by Mr. Temple from England, March, Meiji 31 (1898) [MJD 21/01/2013]
