- Research and responses
In an email to the PRM dated 16 April 2013, mother and daughter Maria and Megan Blackwell noted that the J. Wallace associated with these four objects (1917.9.5-.8) was their (great-)great-uncle. They also noted that James Wallace's property in Keilor is retained by the family. (See RDF for printout of email.) [JC 17 4 2013]
In his notebook/diary entry for Monday 17 August 1914, Balfour writes: ‘Thence motored to Keilor, also Salt Water River, farm-land, where Mr J. Wallace gave us some good implements + we found others.’ See: University of Oxford, Pitt Rivers Museum; Manuscript Collections; Balfour Papers; Box 1; item 7 (Diary of 1914 visit to B.A.A.S. (British Association for the Advancement of Science) meeting in Sydney, Australia; Notebook 1 (London–Sydney). [JC 17 4 2013]
