Research and responses

The design of this object is similar to a type of Yemeni necklace known as "labbeh", worn by women as bridal jewellery or for festive events. Such necklaces feature strings of amulets or beads in a range of shapes, decorated with coloured glass or paste and applied filigree. The labbeh was worn in many different ways by both Muslim and Jewish women in Yemen, including as a necklace, on top of the head, as a chin-chain attached to a headdress, and as a veil.
