Description
Lute. For the case for this object please see 2022.66.1.2
Long description
Lute, with a teardrop-shaped body, fully rounded underneath. The bridge and strings are entirely missing, and only seven of the eight bone tuning pegs remain. There is a ring of black lac surrounding the sound hole, in which small flour-de-lis motifs of mother-of-pearl are inlaid. A stained wooden section beneath this gives a tortoiseshell effect. There are more circles of mother-of-pearl inlaid on the fretboard. The back of the body and the head are breaking away, and an attempt has been made to fix these with green tape. For the case for this object please see 2022.65.1.2.
