Description
White willow rattle, containing a pellet bell.
Long description
Information from Wright (1983:173): made from specially grown Black Maul osiers. Made of 7 x 91 cm rods of uniform thickness. The butts are tied together 6.5 cm up, one projecting 2.5 cm. Each rod is twisted over two to the right, in the same movement as for a corn dolly. The bell is put in before the top is closed by tying and pushing the tips inside. The handle is lapped with a skein, and the longer rod is turned up with the rest to make a loop.
