Description
Belt in warp-faced double weave
Long description
Belt in warp-faced double weave (Rowe 1977:94ff) with scroll motif (wajrapallay, Quechua) said to represent the snail or cornucopia (Wasserman & Hill 1981:10). 7 oblique interlaced units sewn together at one end. The belt ends with round braids with ojo de gato (cat's eye) pattern. Probably a mixture of sheep's wool and camelid fibre. Chemical dyes. Warp spin Z2S; weft Z2S; warp count 50 epi (20/cm); 14 ppi (6/cm).
