Research and responses

Thomas Myers, Curator of Anthropology, University of Nebraska has made the following notes: Probably legitimately from the highland community of Jauja or one of the villages in the immediate vicinity. Probably purchased in the Jauaja market. Interesting that many pieces in this collection are miniature. All the pieces in this collection have some lead glaze in them which was a Spanish introduction but picked up by the Indian communities. The double jar shape of this pot has the same form as no. 1900.30.43. Double jars like this are associated with a drinking pattern in the Central Highlands (Southern part of) in which it is customary to take not one drink but two drinks. By taking them out of a double jar the problem is solved. Brown glaze.
