1938.35.1087Pistol-tinder-box. Iron mountings, box and mechanism with curved wood butt. The tinder box is engraved on both long sides. One side has a central oval with floral embellishment above it and to the sides. The other side has a central diamond shape with stylised foliage and small circles surrounding it. The butt, which is flattened on all sides is carved with a fine cross-hatching within the side sections. Where the butt meets the box at the sides are decorative carved sections.
