- Long description
- Canoe paddle [.5] with local repair. For dugout canoe [see entry 1884.54.41.1]. The paddle is carved from one piece of wood. A lateral handle is attached to the end with a mortise and tenon joint. The paddle blade is leaf shaped and has a local repair at the tip. The wood has split and has been stitched across the width with a thin sewing yarn or string at two points. The paddle is painted a light colour on the blade with a triangular and curved decoration on the blade at the point where it meets the handle [SM (Verve) 14/05/2013]

On the upper surface are incised diamonds, on either side of the central incised section are rows of resin crosses in the same diamond pattern.
