Long description
Amulet, oval medallion with a religious figures painted onto ivory on both sides, in a silver mount with a loop for suspension. On one side of the pendant there is a painting of the Virgin Mary depicted with a crown and a halo, and holding a baby. The garment she is wearing is painted with a gold floral decoration, and there is a gold crescent shape at the base of the figure. On the other side there is a painted scene with one adult male and three children, two male and one female. The man, one of the boys, and the girl are depicted with halos. The man appears to to be teaching the two boys carpentry, and the girl is ?sewing. Around each figure there is a painted border, and both sides are fronted with a glass panel. There is a decorative looped section at the top of the silver mount to the which the loop for suspension is attached. [RB 01/06/2012]
