Description
Neck ornament. [FB 25/04/2012]
Long description
Neck ornament. The ornament consists of six carved pieces of bone each approximately 80 mm long. The pieces of bone have been carved with stylised human faces. The bone pieces have been perforated with a round hole at the top through which a length of twisted synthetic fibre has been passed and each end has been knotted together to form a necklace. Each bone pendant is separated with a cylindrical bead made from bone. [FB 25/04/2012]

The Dani people (also spelt Ndani) are one of the most populous tribes in the highlands of West Papua. The Dani are one of the most well-known ethnic groups due to the small numbers of tourists who visit the the Baliem Valley area where they predominate. [FB 27/04/2012]
