- Long description
- Silver Qur'an box [hirz] on double silver chain. The box is for storing a small copy of the Qur'an and is mounted onto a double silver chain through two loops of silver metal attached at the top of either end of the box. Both ends of the chain are then attached to a silver metal loop at the top of the chain. All four silver chains are 260 mm long. The front of the box is decorated with patterns of diamonds and dots in rectangles. The centre rectangle contains a series of diamonds with a raised dot in the centre of each diamond and is 28 mm long by 14 mm wide. On either side of this central rectangle are two raised diamonds. This central decorated rectangle is framed with four boarders of small raised dots. Around this is a frame of thirty raised triangles. The outer edge has been decorated with a boarder of three rows of raised dots. Attached to the bottom of the Qur'an box are eight silver hoops with short lengths of silver metal chain attached, approximately 40 mm long. Four of the chains are broken. On the end of the the chains are flat diamond shaped pieces of silver metal. The lid for the box is at the side and attached to a piece of metal chain also attached to the bottom of the box.
