Long description
Printed image of three figures, Tenshoko Daijin, Emperor Jimmu, and Toyoke Daijin. The central figure (Tenshoko Daijin) is holding a sheathed sword and looking forward. The figure on the right (Toyoke Daijin) is holding flowers. The figure on the left is male (Emperor Jimmu). He has his hair tied up and has a bow, quiver full of arrows and a sword. The picture has a gilded border and gilded inscription along the top. It also has a red stamp containing an inscription in the bottom right of the picture. [SM 23/04/2009]

Research and responses

This object was examined by Professor Itaru Chijiwa during his research visit in December 2010. He noted that the central figure has three items of Imperial Regalia, a necklace, a mirror and a sword. [SM 15/12/2010]

The inscription on this object was transcribed and translated by Fusa McLynn who volunteered at the Museum in 2012 as: (From right to left) “Toyouke daijin, Amaterasu kotajin, Jinmu tenno”, Goddess Toyouke, Goddess Amaterasu, Emperor Jinmu [MJD 16/10/2012]
