The inscription on this object was transcribed and translated by Fusa McLynn who volunteered at the Museum in 2010 as: (Right)"Sagami no kuni Ashigara shimo gun Motohakone mura Hakone jinja hoki”, Treasures of Hakone shrine. (Flute) “Yoritomo ko kifu tobue Yoshitsune tsuneni tazusaeru to iitsutau”, A flute given by Yoritomo. It is said that Yoshitsune always carried it with him. (Pots) Right; it has been kept at the shrine for 632 years from Bunei 5 to Meiji 22. Left; it has been kept at the shrine for 616 years from Koan 6 to Meiji 22.
