The inscription on these objects were transcribed and translated by Fusa McLynn who volunteered at the Museum in 2012 as: “Yamato no kuni Omine-san ryakuzu”, Map of Mt. Omine in Yamato province. “Meiji nijuni nen hachigatsu itsuka insatsu”, Printed on 5 August, Meiji 22 (1899). “Omine-san youri shoho michinori”. 1996.17.228.3[1 of] Five circular porcelain dishes, the rims slightly shaped. Painted on the interior with panels containing fish, crabs and perhaps persimmon, in an underglaze blue.
