Research and responses

Metlakatla is a community in Alaska. According to the Metlaktla First Nation website 'The members of the Metlakatla First Nation are the present-day descendants of the nine organized First Nations societies, known as the “nine tribes” of the Coast Tsimshian. Various factors in history resulted in two distinct First Nations – Metlakatla and Lax Kw’alaams. Under the Indian Act, both Bands are the legal representatives of the members of the nine tribes. Metlakatla is a Tsimshian community located in the pristine environment 7 kilometres west of Prince Rupert.' http://www.metlakatla.ca/our_community/community_profile [MJD 26/01/2015]
