- Long description
- Rest for oars and sail made from wood, incorporating ?snake figure. The rest is made from several pieces of wood which are covered in a white pigment and some black pigment and nailed together with iron nails. From the base there are three protruding pieces of wood, one in the form of a ?snake carved with organic shapes which have been filled with black pigment. The central protruding piece of wood is curved and tapers to a point at the top. The last protruding piece is the shortest and is carved to a rounded scroll shape. [FC 03/06/2010]

Thomas Nelson Annandale and Herbert Christopher Robinson undertook an expedition to Perak and the [then] Siamese Malay states in 1901-1902, under the auspices of the Universities of Edinburgh and Liverpool. The results of this expedition were published in Fasciculi Malayenses: Anthropological and Zoological Results of an Expedition to Perak and the Siamese Malay States, 1901-1902, published in London by Longmans, Green in four parts between 1903 and 1907.
