Thomas Nelson Annandale and Herbert Christopher Robinson undertook an expedition to Perak and the [then] Siamese Malay states in 1901-1902, under the auspices of the Universities of Edinburgh and Liverpool. The results of this expedition were published in Fasciculi Malayenses: Anthropological and Zoological Results of an Expedition to Perak and the Siamese Malay States, 1901-1902, published in London by Longmans, Green in four parts between 1903 and 1907. 1924.38.15Rectangular, lined rectangle of fabric which would be wrapped around and belted to form a skirt (from Sue Conway). The waistband is of plain brown cotton cloth, 465mm deep, the body of the skirt is not embroidered (as the original card states) but tapestry woven, including gold-wrapped threads. This portion is predominantly red and pink with a horizontal, wavy design. This section is 745mm deep. The border is of striped pink silk attached and hemmed with machine stitching.
