Unmarried girl's dance skirt of striped black, orange and white cloth. [MJD 18/2/2010]
Long description
Unmarried girl's dance skirt of striped black, orange and white cloth. The cloth is constructed from two panels. The skirt has three white strips (each with two black stripes), four orange stripes and black eight stripes. There are narrower stripes at the edges. The warp ends are sewn up in a blanket stitch known locally as 'kaheliambe'.

In a virtual meeting with members of the Zeme Naga community in Manipur on 16th September 2021, organised as part of the Talking Threads Project, the group noted that the stitch used to sew up warp ends of cloths is known locally as ‘kaheliambe’. For the full recording please see the project file.
