- Description
- Wooden glaive with wide, flat, curved blade, squared at the tip, and backward projecting spur. The blade has a longitudinal mid rib which is incised with a central line. The shaft is cylindrical and is separated from the blade by an hourglass collar. At the base is an elaborately carved grip consisting of a conical shape, a knobbed expansion and an elongated conical butt. [JC [OPS Move] 09/08/2016]

1938.36.401Dark wood club with spheroidal, perforated stone head. The wooden shaft is split at the distal end where it is bound with strips of plaited plant fibre. Between the stone head and the shaft is a possibly resinous substance inset with teeth. The handle tapers towards the butt where there is a small raised band.
