- Long description
- Model Chang warrior [.1] with cane hat [.2], shoulder cloth, loin cloth and a model trophy head [.3] and long necklace [.4]. The warrior is carved from wood with both his arms bent at the elbow facing forward and his feet together. His hat is red basketry with white detail and with a feather in the top. He is wearing two neck ornaments, one made from a boar tusk and the other from alternating long wood beads and round blue/turquoise glass beads. He has tattoos painted onto his upper arms and chest. His shoulder cloth is blue and red weave with red goat hair tassels, red wool embroidery and decorated with coix seed circles. His loin cloth is blue with red weave and is also decorated with a coix seed circle. He has garters made from plant fibre around his knees. His wrists are bound with red wool. The model trophy head is carved with a carrying string which is in the warrior's right hand. He also has a dao holder. [JN 02/03/2010]

Information from Dr Vibha Joshi, 27th January 2010: The name of Naga community who makes the red cane helmet/conical hat decorated with yellow dried orchid stem is Khiamniungan (called Kalyo-Kenyu in British records). [JN 27/01/2010]
