Long description
Straight double-edged broad-sword. With traces of engraving on the blade. Large quillons and a thumb ring. Grip bound with wire including plaited bands at top and bottom. Steel pommel. [LM 24/04/2007]

C ffoulkes. 1912. 'European Arms and Armour in the University of Oxford' Clarendon Press, Oxford. p30 '13. Hand-and-half sword of the XV-XVI cent. The pommel is fig-shaped of octagonal section. The grip is of wood, covered with steel wire. The quillons are straight of octagonal section, with a side-ring in the centre. The blade is two edged, 30 1/2 in x 2 in the whole length the point blunted. There are traces of engraving and the marks figured below appear on each side Pitt Rivers coll 1033' [illustration] .
