Long description
Sword with single edged blade decoratively edged, inlaid with copper alloy and carved ivory or antler hilt [sheath 1907.75.7.2] The blade expands along its length and is elaborately edged along the spine where it tapers in to the tip. It is inlaid with dots of copper alloy on one surface below the grip and is decoratively edged along the blade edge at this point too. The grip is bound with plaited rattan and cane strips. The hilt is ornately carved above the grip and divides into two sections each with long and short hair tassels of light coloured and dyed hair. [SM 05/09/2007]
