- Long description
- Padlock, oblong box with L-shaped bar on one end and curved bar on the other, incised with lines. The end of the curved bar passes through a hole in one arm of the L-shaped bar. The other arm of the L-shaped bar is made up of a number of plates on top of each other, some incised, some with serrated edges, with a domed plate at the top. Attached at the bottom are two knobs. The key is a bar, incised with lines on one side, with bit at right angles in the shape of a rectangle with a protruding T. [El.B 29/05/2009]

- Research and responses
This padlock was studied during a meeting of the European Lock Collectors Association in September 2023. It was identified as a 19th century padlock from Nepal, collected by Richard Carnac Temple in the Indian city of Muzaffarpur.
