Long description
Dagger [.1] with leaf shaped blade and decoratively carved wooden handle, in a decoratively carved wooden sheath [.2] The handle and sheath are decorated with carved zigzag designs. The handle is rectangular in plan and section. The sheath is initially rectangular in plan, then it expands, before tapering to a blunt tip. It is bound at the mouth and above the chape with iron wire and with string around the centre. The chape is made of a sheet of iron, bound around the tip. A carved projection with a hole on it is sited below the mouth. This is for attaching a carrying strap through. [SM 27/06/2007]
