Description
Rectangular pendant of repoussé tin plate worn on the head by Imajeghan (noble) men.
Long description
Made in two pieces. The edges of the larger, front piece are folded over the smaller inner piece so as to form an envelope. Two pieces of red and green leather are threaded through pairs of holes in the smaller inner piece to form loops, presumably for attaching to a band or to the hair itself. The front piece is decorated with geometric motifs, including dot and circle. [JC 11 1 2002]
