1938.35.1110Primarily square iron box with two levels on four round feet. There are two holes in the lower level into which ink pots may have been place. Jutting out from this level between these two holes is a hole which overhangs the edge and has a decorative band applied around the opening. The second and higher level contains the pistol works for igniting the tinder (a hammer with cloth wrapped flint in situ and a striking surface). Two vertical fleur-de-lis are attached on either side of the bowl, and a third is attached to a horizontal flange attached to the back vertical arm. Decorative open-word plate at the end of the arm.
