Hand adze of wooden handle and stone head. For extracting sago pith from the log.
Long description
Hand adze of wooden handle and stone head, for extracting sago pith from the log. The stone is flaked. The haft is carved with a design of a stylised birds beak. The stone is secured to the handle with cane binding. Underneath the cane binding the stone is also tied with fishing wire. [MJD 05/01/2015]
