Description
Wooden and painted helmet mask with a row of feathers attached around the top. This mask is part of a masquerade costume. For the grass fringe for this mask see 1910.1.162 .2 . [CW [OPS move] 20/9/2016]
Long description
Wooden mask with carved out square eye holes either side of a nose-style projection. Painted on the outside with a red and white design. Around the top of the mask is a row of feathers threaded on plant fibre, which is nailed and pinned to the mask. There is a split in the wood along one side of the mask. The mask comes with a grass fringe, which is detached and numbered separately as 1910.1.162 .2 [ZM 14/05/2013]
