Research and responses

http://www.thisislimitededition.co.uk/item.asp?category=Arts&ID=195: At one time, the first sight to greet visitors to Oxford was not the dreaming spires - but the gasworks and gasholders. The works occupied a key site alongside the River Thames at St Ebbe's and dominated the southern approach to the city for 150 years. .... However, the landscape was changed forever when the gas holders were demolished in 1968 and eventually, in 1984, the area was turned into an attractive nature reserve. [AP 13/12/2007]
