Research and responses

This basket [2024.14.7.1-.2] was commissioned as part of the Decolonising the Museum: Digital Repatriation of the Gaidinliu Collection from the UK to India (DiMuse) project: https://www.prm.ox.ac.uk/dimuse

Rongmei/Kabui Naga weavers and makers used photographs and 3D imaging of the Rani Gaidinliu collection to create copies using modern materials and dyes. The basket is a contemporary copy of 1928.69.1570.1-.2, in which the notebooks of Rani Gaidinliu were found. [JMC 15/05/2025]
