Description
Pewter tea caddy [.1] with lid [.2]. [ZM 7/7/2005]
Long description
Chinese pewter tea canister [.1] and lid [.2]. The exterior (including lid) has an incised or engraved pattern of flowers, birds and a woman playing a flute, all within cartouches. The lid is double-walled to create an air-tight lid. The caddy has three short ?cast feet on the base and a small circular hole at the base of the neck. I cannot see any vertical joins or cast marks on the object. Vertical joins can be seen on the inner surface suggesting it was made from formed flat sheets. [SM (Verve) 15/11/2014]
