Long description

Dagger [.1] with two edged blade and leather bound handle, in decorated leather sheath [.2] with arm ring. The dagger has a long tapering blade with a central rib and incised lines on both sides that follow the shape of the edge. The handle is expanded at both ends; the butt is crescent shaped and resembles and anchor. The handle is bound with two pieces of leather that are stitched down the edges and is decorated with incised lines. The sheath is made from red and black leather with a widthways band of reptile skin approximately one third down the sheath. There are two bands of plaited red leather strips, one is below the reptile skin and the other is above the tip. The tip is slightly expanded and is thicker than the sheath. The sheath is decorated on both sides along its length with incised lines and punched dots. The front of the reptile skin has a stitched zigzag pattern in leather. The grooved arm ring is made from red leather and is attached to the front of the sheath.
