Description
Model Maltese rowing boat [ZM 15/2/2016]
Long description
Carved and painted model Maltese rowing boat with B. BORDA painted on both sides of the hull and an eye, which was to avert danger. The cabin has decorative silk drapes, which are extremely fragile and deteriorating. There is a painted metal lantern hanging inside the cabin. Tied onto one side of the deck is a wooden bucket with a brass rim and a wooden baler. A string rope, which presumably was once attached to the anchor is attached at one end of the boat. The model contains the following parts, which are detachable from the hull [.1]: two painted oars [.2-.3]; four wooden poles [.4-.7]; and a lead anchor [.8]. It is unclear what the four wooden poles are for but two have metal points at the ends and some are shaped in a way that suggests these were attached to another part of the boat originally.
