- Long description
- Dagger [.1] with curved blade and carved wooden and brass hilt, in elaborate brass and copper alloy sheath [.2]. The dagger blade is two edged with a ricasso on the inner edge and a long ricasso on the outer edge. It has two round holes and a rectangular hole through the blade near the hilt. There is a brass band with incised decoration between the counterguard and the blade. The grip has ridges and is inlaid with brass wire. The butt is large and curved with incised brass decoration. The sheath is also curved with an upturned tip.. It is made from wood and covered with copper alloy and brass decoration. The brass decoration is overlaid and is incised. Below the mouth is a locket with two holes (one either side). One of these holes has a brass ring through it. [SM 20/06/2007]
