Long description
Knife [.1] with leaf-shaped blade and hide bound handle, in a wooden sheath [.2] with decorative open work carving on the front. The knife handle is flared at both ends and made of wood. It is covered towards the blade with a strip of hide. The sheath is made of two pieces of wood bound at either end with a strip of hide. The front has carved out triangles, which reveal the blade beneath. The tip is narrow and projects forward. There is also a hide bound projection beneath the mouth with a hole through it. A length of textiles is knotted through the hole. [SM 26/06/2007]
