- Description
- Conical bamboo hat with decorative plaiting.
- Long description
- This conical hat has three layers, two of which are made of split bamboo and the one in the middle is a plastic film. The brim is enclosed between two rings made of layered strips of bamboo. the layers are secured to each other with metal wire anchored at 14 points around the brim. The inner conical framework of the hat is made in a hexagonal basketry pattern with triaxal weaving. It is then covered in a plastic film. The top layer is made of four different patterns. Bamboo strips are used to create the point of the hat with triaxal weaving for 7 cm. Each strip of bamboo is then split and fanned out for 4 cm. These much smaller strips are then individually plaited on 4 cm. For another 7 cm, groupings of three are plaited down to the brim.
