Description
Convex basketwork shield with dark geometric patterns.
Long description
Basketwork convex shield. It is oval in shape with the top and bottom woven inwards to create inward concave shapes, probably for the feet and head. In the centre of the shield the length of the shield is reinforced with braided fibres and plaited fibres are inserted in the larger braid. The plaited fibres also form a handle for the shield over and through a hole in a central piece of wood placed horizontally. Fibres dyed black are woven into the shield to create dark geometric patterns.
