Bowed lute (bow missing), ravanahatha. Consists of a coconut shell resonator with a membrane and funnel-shaped tin base bound on with cords.
Long description
Bowed lute (bow missing), ravanahatha. Consists of a coconut shell resonator with a membrane and funnel-shaped tin base bound on with cords. A wooden stick is fixed to the resonator with two main strings, both of metal, which pass through slots in the wooden bridge. There are five sympathetic or lower strings which are threaded through holes in the bridge. There are seven wooden pegs at the end of the wooden stick.
