Description
Pottery lamp of red ware painted in red, black and yellow. [MOBB [OPS move] 5/12/2016]
Long description
Pottery lamp of red ware painted in red, black and yellow. Three ovoid lamps with projecting pointed wick lips, one with textile wick still in situ. Two of the lamps have open, expanding filling hole rims. The third, in the middle, is covered with a rounded conical top. These three lamps are set atop a wide, flat, horizontal bridge with three legs creating two arches over a shallow circular dish. The pedestal upon which this is set is hollow and has an expanded foot with cylindrical neck and globular body. There is a circular perforation in the centre of the globe. At the back is a handle attaching the bridge to the globe. The entirety is decorated with red bands and red and black geometric designs and cross hatching on a yellow background.
