- Wooden door lock in a rough cross shape [.1] and key [.2] with double head. [LKG 26/05/2009]
- Long description
- Wooden door lock in a rough cross shape [.1] and key [.2] with double head. The lock is formed of two halves hinged along one width with brass hooks and eyes at the opposite end. When opened the lock's inner faces are chiseled to allow a large bolt and six tumblers to lie in place and the key to be inserted. The bolt has two rows of three notches cut on each edge of one side. These allow the tumblers to engage with the bolt, and the end of the bolt closest to these has been rounded by the removal of the block's corners. At the opposite end the bolt has been shaped to leave a small lip or foot, which prevents the bolt from passing through the lock entirely. The key [.2] has a pair of carpentered heads off-set to one another at the head end. Each of these has a pair of chiseled notches for engaging with the tumblers. One of the key heads is slightly longer than the other and the chiseled notches are on the outward facing sides of the keys respectively. [LKG 26/05/2009]
