Description
Circular basket for bread and similar food. [MJD (Verve) 20/12/2016]
Long description
Circular basket for bread and similar food. The basket is made of several strands of plant fibre which have been held together to make one thick strand and wrapped in plain metal foil and printed foil made from old cashew nut packets. The bound strands have then bound together with red plastic yarn. The rim of the basket has been decorated at fifteen points with coloured wool (red and green) pom-poms or tufts. There is also a central tuft of wool in the middle of the basket. Baskets like this are only used on special occasions and are not suitable for everyday use [MdeA 29/11/99].
