- Research and responses
This object was studied by Jake Bowers, Blacksmith, during a research visit on 5 April 2013. He plans to construct a similar lantern. The following comments were recorded: The glass is made from a bottle. The top of the bottle has been broken - possible heated then submerged in water to rapidly cool and split the glass. The metal is flat tin. The joints are soldered. The handle is of high quality workmanship and may have been taken from another object. The makers would have had limited tools. [MJD 05/04/2013]
