- Edward Ross, with his truck, visiting Kanuri Chief Lawan Mustafa at his home in Konduga Village, 25 miles east of Maiduguri, and two other men. Mustafa is the headman of the village and is wearing an expensive embroidered blue cap and robe. It is the custom to visit the headman first when entering a village.
