Long description
Curved knife [.1] with short decorated hilt and leather and iron bound wooden sheath [.2] with leather carrying strap. The knife hilt is made of iron with seven decorative circular rivets of incised copper alloy, with a smaller circle of copper. The hilt flares towards the blade, which is made of iron. A central rib is visible, although the knife cannot be removed from the sheath. The sheath is curved and made from two pieces of wood, covered with leather with a large sheet of iron wrapped around the mouth. This is decorated on the front with a punched design of concentric squares with a pattern in the centre. Bound to the sheath with a strip of leather is a thick leather carrying belt. This has an iron buckle on one end: a thin piece of woven textile is knotted to the other end of the belt. It is black with a white chevron pattern. [SM 06/06/2007]
