Research and responses

This object was examined by Jonathan King (MAA Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, Cambridge). The visit took place 28/09/2015. [NC 23/11/2015]

It is not clear why there is an exclamation mark on the additional vellum volume entry [AP 27/5/99]

This shoe was studied by Rachel Hopkins, shoe maker, on 24 October 2014. Rachel agreed with the accession record that this shoe is similar to 1886.1.747 but not a pair to it. Rachel said the raised strips on the sole were sewn inside with invisible blind stitching but stitches visible on the sole. The stitches around the band are finely done. [MJD 24/10/2014]
